WHAT IS PIGTOBERFEST ?
An event for our entire Open Door church family to gather for great food, family friendly activities, conversations and hanging out together. We worship on 4 campuses so we don’t get to see each other often, so we make this our “family time.” Don’t miss connecting, competing and laughing til your face hurts.
WHEN IS PIGTOBERFEST ?
Sunday, October 7th at 5pm at our Open Door Avon Lake Campus, 321 Lear Road, Avon Lake, Ohio.(RAIN OR SHINE! But pray for good weather. 😉)
What do I bring to the Pigtoberfest?
Since we are providing the pulled pork, buns, paper products and drinks, we need YOU to bring the side dishes. Each campus has been assigned a couple of items to bring. It’s easy peasy!
Look for the table with the Pig balloon. Pick up an aluminum “half pan” starting Sunday, Sept 9 through Sept 30, in the CrossRoads area at your campus. Then prepare the item on the label. We’ll grab it from your car when you drive up for the event.
What items are each campus responsible for?
There are specific amounts of each item that we need to feed a group of this size. We provide the pan and lid; you fill it.
Each pan has a label and are available to take on a first come-first serve basis.
Elyria – Cheesy potatoes; Mac ‘n Cheese, Green beans (with ham/bacon, or Green bean casserole), Sweet potato casserole, Cookies (a batch/4 dozen)
Avon Lake– Coleslaw, Baked beans, Green salad w/dressing, Cookies (a batch/4 dozen)
Vermilion– Mac ‘n cheese, corn casserole, Cookies (a batch/4 dozen)
Where do I bring my food?
Beginning at 4:30 pm on 10/7 a food line to drop off food you are bringing for the event will be ready for ‘Drive-Thru’ Service. Enter by the southern entrance off of Lear Road for our volunteers to take your items. We will be glad to keep them hot or cold! (Bring hot foods heated, please). Continue around the building to park across the street at Learwood Middle School.
Where do I park?
Everyone will park at Learwood Middle School. Those with limited mobility can be dropped off by using the southern entrance of the campus. Shuttles will be offered to and from Learwood Middle School as well. An officer and guest services will be assisting for your safety.
Where are we eating?
Dining area provided at the east side of the campus. Feel free to bring a blanket or camping chairs for additional onsite seating.
What can my kids do besides pig out?
There will be activities for everyone, but a specific area will be set up for kids. There will be face painting, pumpkin painting, 4 square, a bouncy house, and other kid-appropriate games.
I am a “big” kid, what fun stuff can I do?
We are having a corn hole tournament, frisbee, football, Open Door trivia, and other games. You definitely won’t get bored!
Is there corn hole?
Yes, walk up registration during the event. It will be set up as a single elimination tournament of 16 teams. And yes, there will be a prize for winning!
